Yet another season of Leagues is upon us. Leagues 4: Trailblazer Reloaded has been announced and is scheduled to release on November 15, where players can play League servers for 8 weeks before they get closed for good (until the next League start’s of course).

Players who loved previous editions of Leagues such as Leagues 3 and Leagues 2, are in luck!

You can see this article as a Starters Guide for Trailblazer Reloaded, whether you’ve played Leagues before or you’re brand new to the gamemode.

What are OSRS Leagues?

Leagues are a seasonal variant of Old School Runescape that work in a similar way to Deadman Mode.

In leagues, players start completely from scratch without any stats, items, or bank. You can use your regular osrs account to login, this will not affect your account at all. Items and stats gained in leagues do not carry over to the real game.

Being a temporary game mode, EXP gains are accelerated. Furthermore, you can add unique buffs to your character through Relics, but more on that later.

Leagues 4 will only last for 8 weeks, just like other editions.

What you should know about Leagues 4

Just like in other Leagues editions, Trailblazer Reloaded will give you a small chunk of the map and force you to unlock other regions to progress your account. In Leagues 4 you start in Lumbridge and have all of Misthalin and Karamja unlocked.

This means at the start, you will only have access to Lumbridge, Draynor Village, Karamja, Varrock, Edgeville, and Barbarian Village.

You will also get special VIP access to Zanaris WITHOUT completing the Lost City quest. You just need to ask the League tutor for a dramen staff.

Leagues Tab

To keep track of your progress during the League, you’ll have access to the Leagues Tab.

Here you can find how many tasks you’ve completed, how many points you have and you unlock new areas or relics.

Region unlocks

As mentioned earlier, Leagues 4 participants will find themselves stuck on Misthalin in the early game. You’ll have to grind out tasks to unlock new areas.

The following regions can be unlocked:

  • Wilderness
  • Fremennik Isles
  • Asgarnia
  • Morytania
  • Kharidian Dessert
  • Kandarin
  • Tirannwn
  • Kourend and Kebos

Tips to help you pick regions:

  • Redditor ShaanOSRS made a useful list covering items unlocked in different regions
  • I’ve added some Youtube videos below that cover each region in depth to help you make decisions in the League

Ironman Mode

Everyone will play Leagues 4 with Ironman mode enabled. This means no trading other players, no Grand Exchange, you won’t see items they drop (even if you PK them), and so on.

Shops stock won’t decrease so you don’t have to worry about that.

Accelerated EXP Rates

Leagues 4 will have 5X accelerated experience rates. Some relics can enhance these rates further!

Changes from the Original Game

Being area-locked, Leagues participants will have some skills unlocked to help you progress without issues.

Tasks

Leagues also contains tasks, similar to Combat Achievements. For example, a task can be to complete a certain quest or kill a certain monster. Unlocking tasks rewards you with League Points (which can be spend on Relics) and also enable you to unlock new regions.

If you want a closer idea of what Tasks look like, take a look at the task list for the previous Trailblazer League (League 2).

Relics

Relics are buffs that are implemented

Currently there is very little information about the Relics coming to Leagues 4. I’ll update this article once more info is available.

If you want an idea of what Relics can look, take a look at the Relics used in the previous Trailblazer league.

Why should you play Leagues 4?

Playing Leagues is good fun. The accelerated experience rates, the community feeling of all rushing the game on fresh accounts, nothing beats that for me honestly. I LOVE the vibes during the early days of a new gamemode, and I’m sure a bunch of you will agree with me on that. So for that reason alone, I’m convinced Leagues 4 will be a blast.

But if you need a little more convincing, you should know that playing the Leagues gamemode isn’t a waste of time. There is a leagues shop where you can unlock rewards to take home into the main game. These rewards contain cosmetics for items, emotes and even magic spells. So you can always proudly showcase that you participated in a League.

Furthermore, playing Leagues is a great time to get some AFK tasks done on other accounts. I’m sure going to get some Woodcutting done on my Group Ironman account while I grind on Leagues. No XP waste!

Leagues 4 Rewards

If you still need some convincing to play Leagues 4, here are some of the rewards.

You can take a look at the full reward list in the OSRS News Post.

Youtube content

As always, I’ve curated a list of Youtube content that is worth the watch. The OSRS YouTubers have already started thinking up strategies and guides to help you prepare for Leagues 4 as well as possible.

Here are some of my top picks.

Area Guide (by Official OSRS Youtube Channel)

Leagues 4 Guide (video by Scritic)

Scritic made a Leagues 4 Guide covering every single region and each type of content they unlock. This is chockful of valuable info and a great video to watch before Leagues start to give yourself an idea of which types of regions you want to unlock first.

Shopscape in Leagues 4 (video by BubbaOSRS)

Since Leagues 4 will be in ironmanmode with the Old School team claiming shops will restock automatically when you close them, the playerbase has been working out ways to abuse this system and make a ton of money when Leagues 4 releases. In the video below, BubbaOSRS explains how you could abuse this system.

Keep in mind that it could get patched before Leagues go live, but you never know.

Dean

Dean started playing Runescape in 2006 when he was just 10 years old and has been playing ever on and off ever since (you never quit OSRS, right?) In 2013 he switched to OSRS Servers and never looked back. Dean has spent over 20,000 hours in the game now and frequently revisits his favourite portion of OSRS; the early-to-mid game through new account builds.
