After a successful season of Twisted League, we finally have an update coming our way! On August 14th Jagex announced Leagues 2: Trailblazers on the official website.
Players who missed out on Twisted League, or loved the 2 month-long seasonal gamemode are in luck!
What are OSRS Leagues?
Leagues are a seasonal variant of Old School Runescape that work in a similar way to Deadman Mode.
In leagues players start completely from fresh without any stats, items or bank. You can use your regular osrs account to login, this will not affect your account at all. Items and stats gained in leagues do not carry over to the real game.
Leagues 2: Trailblazers release date:
What we know so far about Leagues 2: Trailblazers
Remember how Twisted League was restricted to the Kebos and Kourend? Well this time, ALL of Gielinor is unlockable EXCEPT for Kebos and Kourend.
Players will start their Leagues 2:Trailblazer journey in the Kingdom of Misthalin and will be able to unlock different areas with tasks.
You won’t be able to unlock all of Gielinor, while players can unlock areas through tasks (except for Kebos and Kourend) the amount of areas you can unlock will be limited so no player will have access to all of Gielinor.
Of course leagues, just like DMM don’t have the same experience rates as in game. The EXP Rates in Leagues 2: Trailblazer will be at a 5X rate.
Can you trade in Leagues 2: Trailblazers?
Just like in Twisted League, players will not be able to trade with each other. This means Leagues 2 will be considered an ironman mode.
Changes that are made from the original game:
- 5X EXP Rate
- Accounts start with 3 herblore and 10 agility to enable herblore training and the draynor rooftop course (which is in Misthalin)
- More supplies in stores
- Druidic Rituals and Lost City are automatically unlocked
OSRS Leagues 2 Rewards
Leagues 2 will have rewards that carry over into the main games. These will be in the form of wieldable cosmetic trophies and will depend on your current league tier.
Tier Bronze to Mithrill will be a shield slot item
Tier Adamant to Dragon will be two-handed items
The trophies will also come with a unique emote. Jagex is possibly considering a trophy for the top 100 contestants in Leagues 2: Trailblazer.
How Leagues 2:Trailblazer will work
Leagues 2 will work similar to the way Twisted League worked. You will advance in the league through tasks and relics.
Tasks will be used to unlock areas and relics will be used to buff your character.
Like I mentioned previously, tasks will be used to unlock things such as areas. Tasks will span from various activities such as skilling, bossing, quests and mini-games.
Tasks will be divided between area-specific and general tasks.
Area-specific tasks examples:
- Killing Obur (Hill Giant Boss)
- Enter the cooking Guild
- Craft 50 water runes
- Receive a slayer task
General tasks examples:
- Defeating a goblin
- Equipping a bow
- Obtaining marks of grace
- Cooking sharks
Relics are unlocked via League Points and will give you buffs such as: EXP boosts (on top of the 5X boost everyone gets), increased drop rates, skilling buffs and more.
Each player will receive 3 relics at the start of the league. This will impact your strategy right off the bat so choose wisely! The impact of your relics depend on the amount you have, the more relics the more powerful they become.
For every relic tier you unlock, you also unlock a passive tier.
Not all relics have been announced as of yet but Jagex promised some favorites from Twisted League to make a comeback.
