OSRS Misthalin Mystery Guide (Quick Quest Guide)

Misthalin Mystery story & info

Misthalin Mystery is the 130th quest and was the second quest that was made for OSRS specifically. The quest was originally meant to be a Halloween event, but eventually became a permanent quest after passing a poll from the community!

This murder mystery quest is based on the Scream movie series and the house in which it takes place looks a suspicious amount like the Draynor Manor.

Misthalin Mystery is a F2P quest and this guide is 100% F2P and ironman friendly.

Quest Requirements

Misthalin Mystery Guide

Quest Start

Speak with Abigale in the Lumbridge Swamp to start the quest. (Or you can also speak with Hewey)

Take the boat to the island.

You will now arrive at a manor.

Grab the bucket next to the fountain.

Run North and Search the barrel of rainwater. This will spark a cutscene.

Use your bucket on the barrel of rainwater.

Then search it again, and you’ll find a key to the manor.

Solving Riddle #1

Now that you have the key, enter the manor.

Take the knife from the table.

Now open the door with the pink handle to spark another cut scene.

Take the note that spawns on the floor following the cut scene and read it.

Now head into the southwestern room and use your knife on the painting.

Then search the slashed painting to find another key.

Now go into the Eastern room and grab a tinderbox from the shelf.

Then use that tinderbox to light every candle in the room.

Once all candles are lit, light the barrel.

Leave the room and wait for the barrel to blow. Then, go back inside and climb the damaged wall.

Run Northwest around the house and another cutscene will start.

After the murder, take the next note and read it.

Now go back inside the house through the ruined wall and play the piano.

Play the following keys: D-E-A-D.

Then search it to find another key.

Go back around to the wall you damaged and climb over it yet again to get back into the main part of the house.

Now go towards the kitchen. Another cutscene will start.

After the cutscene, pick up the note and read it.

Now go towards the eastern room with the fireplace.

Use your knife on the fireplace. Then search it.

Select the following gems:

• Sapphire
• Diamond
• Zenyte
• Emerald
• Onyx
• Ruby

Afterward, search it again, to find another key.

Now go towards the Western room with the blue doorknob (with the slashed painting).

Here, the killer will play a game with you.

They will hide in wardrobes and throw knives out of them.

You have to reflect the knives back at the killer with the mirror in the room.

To do this, you will have to move the mirror across the room to the wardrobe where the killer is. You’ll know which wardrobe they are in a couple of seconds before they throw axes through a visual black shadow display.

Repeat this 3-4 times and the killer will come out.

It was them the whole time!

Once the cutscene is over, pick up the knife and attack Abigale.

Then exit the room and meet Mandy outside to finish the quest.
